Settlements with Authorities for UK LTD Companies

Running a UK limited company means dealing with several institutions at once, each expecting different documents, on different deadlines, and according to its own rules. We help business owners stay on top of these obligations so that every filing is submitted correctly and on time, leaving you free to focus on growing the business instead of wrestling with forms.

Our clients are mainly Polish owners of UK LTD companies who must reconcile British requirements with domestic ones. We tailor the scope of our support to each company, covering both routine returns and full representation before the authorities in the event of queries, inspections, or correspondence.

Representation before authorities

We act on the client's behalf in settlement matters, handle correspondence, and respond to institutional queries.

Preparation of returns

We prepare and submit tax returns and mandatory statements in the required formats.

Process optimisation

We organise document flow and the calendar of obligations so that no deadline is ever missed.

Filings with HMRC

HM Revenue & Customs is the UK tax authority with which an LTD company settles on several fronts. The foundation is the corporation tax return, the CT600, filed after the financial year end together with the tax calculation. If the company is VAT registered, periodic VAT returns are submitted electronically through Making Tax Digital. Companies with employees operate PAYE and Real Time Information (RTI) reporting, submitting payroll data with every pay run.

We help establish which of these obligations apply to your company, prepare the relevant documents, and submit them within the required deadlines. We also safeguard the accuracy of your data, since it is precisely the discrepancies between individual returns that most often trigger additional queries from the authority.

Companies House

Companies House maintains the register of UK companies and requires a different set of documents than the tax office. Every LTD company files annual accounts and a confirmation statement, which verifies that registered details such as the registered office address, directors, share structure, and persons with significant control remain up to date. We manage these filings end to end, keeping the registered data aligned with the company's actual position and consistent with the returns submitted to HMRC.

Polish authorities: US, ZUS and KRS

Many of our clients keep ties to Poland, so we also support contact with domestic institutions. The tax office (Urząd Skarbowy, US) becomes relevant when an owner or shareholder remains a Polish tax resident, or when the activity generates income subject to settlement in Poland. The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) applies to individuals covered by the Polish insurance system, which requires establishing the applicable legislation for cross-border work. The National Court Register (KRS) matters when a UK company registers a branch in Poland and must complete the related registration and reporting obligations.

We help determine where obligations actually arise and avoid double taxation through the correct application of international agreements. You can read more about company taxes on our Tax Settlement page, and about day-to-day financial support on the Company Accounting page.

Deadlines and late-filing penalties

Each institution sets its own deadlines, and missing them leads to financial penalties that grow the longer the delay lasts. Late submission of the CT600 or of Companies House statements, as well as late payment of tax, may result in penalties and accruing interest. The specific amounts depend on the obligation and the length of the delay, so we always confirm them against the current rules of the relevant authority. The most effective protection remains timeliness, so we maintain a calendar of obligations for our clients and remind them of upcoming dates well in advance.

How we help

We begin our cooperation by reviewing the company's situation and establishing a complete list of obligations towards each authority. We then organise the documentation, prepare and submit the required returns and statements, and, where needed, represent the client in correspondence with institutions. We work bilingually, in Polish and English, so that you understand every stage of the process.
